Painting the Hydrologic Cycle

These works, painted a quattro mani (“with four hands”) during Gigi’s visit to Durham this past month, reflect discussions originating from the Bass Connection Project at Duke, “Beauty and Balance,” which focuses on the role of the laws of physics in visual art.

The vorticity and dynamism of the hydrologic cycle are expressed in these paintings with the style of futurism (in particular of Gerardo Dottori and Umberto Boccioni) and a bit of irony typical of surrealism.

These works were presented in the CEE Art Show at Duke University on November 15, 2016.
